About the annual NIADA Conference
The NIADA Conference is a wonderful opportunity for artists, collectors, and everyone interested in the expanding world of doll art to experience the cutting edge of this dynamic art form. The conference offers attendees opportunities to meet like-minded people, to inspire and be inspired. NIADA membership is not required to attend, just passion for the art of the doll.

This will be a chance to finally get together and reunite our NIADA Artists old and new, along with aspiring artists, patrons, and friends.
Our NIADA 2022 Conference will be held in the Hyatt Regency Bellevue Hotel. Sitting on Lake Washington it is just a 20-minute drive to downtown Seattle. Bring your family for a great vacation while attending the conference. There are activities to thrill all ages.
There have been some changes to our usual conference lineup.
Due to Covid/Omicron travel uncertainties, we have regretfully decided to cancel the in-person Dollmaking School that normally precedes the conference.

However, we will be offering Demonstrations, where you can still learn some wonderful techniques from our talented NIADA Artists. This will be included in your Conference registration available when Registration opens on March 1st. PLUS, all conference attendees at the annual NIADA Conference are welcome to register for a Visiting Artist Critique.
ALSO, the week of September 15th, the NIADA Academy will hold a Special Virtual Dollmaking Event with several new classes and live interaction with the instructors online.

Covid UPDATE – Masks required
To those of you who will be attending the conference this month, due to the increase in Covid activity, we will be requiring that masks be worn throughout the conference, to protect those around us. We will provide 2 disposable masks in your registration packet.

CHALLENGE DOLL 2022 – ‘Imagine’
‘hold your breath, make a wish, count to three’
We have all had plenty of time to let our imaginations soar these past two years. Did you imagine the good old days when life was simpler? Or a trip to the future where you could create a world to your liking? Or did you see yourself as a character in a book and living their experiences instead of your own? Maybe you imagined making a doll without any interruption! Or waking up 10 years younger? Or maybe you just imagined a world where we all just got along.
By participating in the 2022 Doll Challenge you will have an opportunity to share how you interpret and represent this year’s theme, ‘Imagine’ and a great way to be involved in our first in-person Conference since 2019.
Each participant should create their work honoring the dollmaking tradition and submit it for exhibition at the Conference. Submitted dolls should be all original designs and completely fabricated by the artist using any material. Dolls must be no larger than 24″ in diameter and must not exceed 30″ in height. The Challenge dolls will be on display at the Conference in August. This is open to all attendees.
