GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION

In 1963 NIADA was born at founder Helen Bullard’s home in Tennessee, and in 2009 we will “return to the cradle” for a more intimate and laid-back annual conference at the well-known

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts
556 Parkway
Gatlinburg, TN 37738
phone: 865-436-5860
www.arrowmont.org

Conference: Thursday, September 10-Sunday, September 13

Master Classes: Tuesday, September 8-Saturday, September 12

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

Our focus this year will be on sharing information, as we present expanded opportunities to learn in master classes, to be inspired by NIADA’s new book, and, being in a venue that will be conducive to small relaxing groups (sitting on porches gazing at the Smoky Mountains), to learn more from each other in everyday casual exchanges.

Programs will include:

Keynote speaker Elsa Mora, Mikki Kavich (granddaughter of Helen Bullard) sharing Helen’s work, Larry Blount showing fine crafts of the area, programs from doll collectors who are special to NIADA and much more.

Special Exhibition:

Nancy Wiley-Dolls and Scenes from her Alice in Wonderland book

Book will be finished and available

“SWITCH” challenge

All attendees are invited to make a doll (out of a medium that is new and unfamiliar to them) to show in the Challenge Exhibition.
